Review: PUCKED | Pucked Series by Helena Hunting

PUCKED(2)With a famous NHL player for a step-brother, Violet Hall is well acquainted with the playboy reputation many hockey stars come with. She’s smart enough to steer clear of those hot, well-built boys with unparalleled stamina. That is until she meets the legendary team captain—Alex Waters.

Violet isn’t interested in his pretty, beat-up face, or his rock-hard six-pack abs. But when Alex inadvertently obliterates Violet’s previous misapprehension regarding the inferior intellect of hockey players, he becomes more than just a hot body with a face to match.

In what can only be considered a complete lapse in judgment, Violet finds out just how good Alex is with the hockey stick in his pants. But what starts out as a one-night stand, quickly turns into something more. Post-night of orgasmic magic, Alex starts to call, and text, and e-mail and send extravagant—and quirky—gifts, making him difficult to ignore, and even more difficult not to like.

The problem is, the media portrays Alex as a total player, and Violet doesn’t want to be part of the game.

Violet is my spirit animal. Boom, there I said it. I have found my bookish soulmate in a female lead and I have found one of my top new favorite authors in the world of romance – I love you Helena Hunting, please have my babies. Seriously, I cannot tell you how much I loved this series, how much I loved PUCKED. It was just pure hilarious, beaver drool worthy goodies that bring all the boys to the yard. Cannot get enough.

OK, whew… I am calm…. moving on to an actual review would be more beneifical.

Something that I have come to love about Helena Hunting is her ability to create these characters that have a great depth to their personalities with melt off your seat chemistry plus drama to make a full circle within three hundred pages or less in a novel and still keep my attention to love it through to the end. I say this because I have yet to find a single novel of Hunting that I do not care for, hands down, I love her writing style. With that being said, PUCKED was my first book I ever read of hers, from there I read almost all of her current books within a month of starting, once I got started I couldn’t stop. So lets dive in some more, why did I love this so much that made me a stead fast diehard Hunting fan?

I loved Violet. I said it before and I will say it again, Violet made the novel what it is. Right off the start, she is hilarious, packs one hell of a fierce attitude with sarcasm, no filter and down right my kind of gal. Seriously, if you want to know what my personality is just read this book, I am Violet, minus the tits. And if you have read this, I mean I relate to her on so many levels you would seriously question my sanity (no its not a superhero, I am more of a pirate gal…. if you get my drift) because it is hilariously spot on.

And Alex. Oh fuck me sideways with a hockey stick my kind of man meat has arrived. I loved Alex. He is probably the idea of a hockey player hunk of sex walking that I would envision if ever the chance to drug one up and call my sex kitten. From the moment he stepped into the book with Violet I knew I would fall madly in love with his character. He is really a fun, sweet, brooding yet mincing type tower of a personalty that makes you weak at the knees. Even with his flaws, he is really just a great male character.

Alex and Violet together – whew. Let me just dry myself off, it is tidbit steamy in areas. I mean it, I loved their chemistry. I think because of Violets personality with that no filter charming mindset with the clash of Alex who in turn is charismatic and hunky, really there is no turning this back. I loved them together, I think they really clashed and evolved together as a person and equals during the novel. It was fun through to the end, seriously cannot get enough of them. Hell, I want more of them.

All in all, I loved PUCKED. Hell I loved the entire PUCKED series, I highly recommend this series. Because of Hunting, I have become overly obsessed with Hockey enriching romance novels. I could not imagine anyone not picking this up and reading it in one sitting and not enjoying the humorous romance.

Also, just so you know, beaver and jilling is my new favorite words I have added to my ever growing colorful vocabulary – thank you Helena Hunting.
