Oh be still my speckled heart, I am beyond ready for all the Cane Brother action and A Long Time Coming could not have come sooner… and before you say it, yeah I know it is a total Friends to Lovers trope and that is not my favorite and yet here we are with a five star rating. Who is this Suey? It is the same Suey, I promise, it just this one had me the instant I started it.

I am not sure if there is a character I love more than a sassy relatable female lead and Lia is that gal for me today. I know I always boost about the male leads or their bromances, and we will get there soon but Lia is me. Everything about how she people pleases, holds herself, stays silent to avoid situations; it is me and I loved it. She was such a fun character. I loved her insecurity. There is a list. I felt she was a believable, real human. That is what I like to see in characters is when I can see them as real. Then there was Breaker, I liked the platonic friendship between him and Lia, or at least up until the relaxation of feelings happen, I just liked how he treated Lia. It really was a friendship.

And that nickname – Pickle. Yes. But lets not forget the supporting characters, always a pleasure my furry friends and getting Lottie and Kelsey in the flesh made the book even more spectacular. The brothers too, getting the relationship between the three Cane Brothers just make my heart swell, or burst out in laughter, the moments were endless. Did I snort laugh when JP and Breaker saw Huxley, and he was mad. That entire conversation was perfection.

Ugh and that ending!! Not over the top, not exaggerated drama, it was perfect. The scene between Brian and Lia, I felt like it was something that needed to happen. I was almost worried that there wasn’t going to be any further mention of Brian after the moment of the cake tasting, which by the way totally proud of Lia.

I think about you every second of every day, Lia. I want you more than I’ve ever wanted anything in my life.

Bottom line, if I have not convinced you to read this, then I am not doing a very good job with my reviews. Seriously, I loved A Long Time Coming with every fiber of my mushy goo heart swoonage. Am I just putting words together? Maybe. Does that make it any less true? No. Meghan Quinn never stops amazing me with her writing style, her characters, the plots, everything. There was massive amounts of laughing with just the right amount of steam and drama. As always, Quinn has me in a chokehold of emotions. Read this series and thank me later.
