Review: Dirty Headlines by L.J. Shen

Dirty headlinesFrom bestselling author L.J. Shen, comes a new standalone, enemies-to-lovers romance.

Célian Laurent.
Manhattan royalty.
Notorious playboy.
Heir to a media empire.
…And my new boss.

I could have impressed him, if not for last month’s unforgettable one-night stand.
I left it with more than orgasms and a pleasant memory–namely, his wallet.
Now he’s staring me down like I’m the dirt under his Italian loafers, and I’m supposed to take it.
But the thing about being Judith “Jude” Humphry is I have nothing to lose.
Brooklyn girl.
Infamously quirky.
Heir to a stack of medical bills and a tattered couch.
When he looks at me from across the room, I see the glint in his eyes, and that makes us rivals.
He knows it.
So do I.
Every day in the newsroom is a battle.
Every night in his bed, war.
But it’s my heart at stake, and I fear I’ll be raising the white flag.

Okay, so how did I not know this existed? Clearly I have been living under a rock because bananas this was phenomenal. I have been craving a good Office Romance recently and I was disheartened to find out that we really don’t have that many novels floating around with this trope. Disheartening I tell you. But thankfully a friend heeded my call and gave me a list of recommendations, thank goodness for this beautiful soul, I loved Dirty Headlines. Obsessively loved Dirty Headlines. The characters, the plot, the drama oh my the sex – drool worthy.

Everyone should know that by now, I love a good asshole complex, I love jerks and swoon worthy alpha cavemen hero and Celian took the ever loving cake for the best in all the scrumptiously delicious ways. I loved his character, I know I say this about every fictional obsession I have but I cannot, will not get over my fangirl moments. Celian had this mannerism about himself that exuded overconfidence and sex appeal. Ruthless, cunning, he demanded attention at every point of his entry during scenes.  I seriously could not get enough of him. Loved his smart mouth, ugh the fangirlling, it won’t stop.

Then we have Jude. Oh my stars is there more of a beautifully, caring human, and tits, her style was perfection, I mean no one can help but adore a heroine who only wear chucks. Seriously, best freaking shoes ever. Not only was Jude the sweetest thing ever while she charmed and befriended her office co-workers, but she was the only person who would not give into Celian demanding ways, hell she handed Celian his rear on a platter. She was sweet and fierce, holding her ground, definitely a fictional female I could idolize. I simply fawned over her personality that was both charmingly sweet with a touch of smartass sass.

And not to mention, with all these amazing personality dynamics it shouldn’t be any surprise that the chemistry between Celian and Jude was passionate to say the least. From the moment these two met, hooked up, to the point their paths crossed again in the office, passionate doesn’t even touch the surface on the connection these two shared. Their banter was hilarious perfect which generally ended up with someone on their knees – damnit perfection which can we just take a moment to say – Holy moly batman?! Because those sex scenes were blissfully delicious. Every sexual tension moment was filled with edge of my seat need. I was engulfed in their sexual chemistry. I melted comrades, melted I tell you.

Bottom line, if you aren’t picking up what I am putting down, let me be blunt, I flipping cannot get enough and you should read Dirty Headlines. The dynamic of the characters was absolute magnificent, every mannerism was sublime, multilayered and beyond captivating. I adored the romance, Jude and Celian stole my heart. Everything about this blew me away, it is going to take a while to get over this book boner hangover…

… until we meet again L.J. Shen, you devil you.
