Truly Yours, the anticipated conclusion of Mason & Sophie’s story is HERE from Kennedy Fox!
This is a friends-to-lovers roommate romance filled with drama, suspense, and, of course, plenty of angsty slow burn goodness you’ve come to expect in a Kennedy Fox book!
I knew within moments of meeting Mason Holt that he would change my life forever. I just didn’t realize how much.
As my world spirals out of control, he continues to stay by my side, protecting and taking care of me. Being just friends is all he’s been able to offer, that is until both of our lives are threatened. Now that our relationship is blossoming into something more, I can’t be what he needs even if I wished I could.
Bad timing strikes again.
When I think we can finally be together, someone threatens to tear us apart. I’m not the same girl Mason met three years ago, but I’m determined to fight for what I’ve always wanted–him.

Okay. Let it be known that yeah, I am not a fan of this one. I am sorry my furry friends, it even took me a lot to settle with the rating I had, which is beyond disappointing. Many people know, and I still consider myself a diehard fan of all things Kennedy Fox. Their writing style is always amazing, their plots (all be it exaggerated at times) still pretty solid and entertaining, and lets not forget the romances they build are swoon worthy. Unfortunately the babes let me down with this one; subbed into a ‘friends to lovers’ roommate romance is not really all this is, and though I am not a huge fan of this particular trope, I was so ready for Sophie and Mason. This is me in the high hopes category. I know what you might be thinking comrades, Suey this is only the first paragraph and you are complaining about something that is generally a good thing, but let me explain…
Lets start with the biggest irk I have because yes, it is a roommate series, I love angsty roommates, especially considering (whoo spoilers, read Truly Mine to pick up what I’m putting down) Sophie and Mason hooked up mere minutes before realizing they shouldn’t have once Lennon and Hunter introduce them to each other. Talk about awkward. But yeah, this opened a ton of worms that makes things juicy, but sadly for me, the way Mason ‘friendzones’ Sophie then the point of how he treats her in Truly Mine, yeah it still irks me, this is a total Bully Romance. There is no established friendship in the least and this continues into Truly Yours but in different forms.
Now before I continue, I will say it again, if you haven’t read Truly Mine, this is going to spoil everything, so you have been warned as I continue.
At this point, we pick up right where we left off – Mason and Sophie finally a couple – hot diggity dog, finally lets buy the condoms shall we. But alas our sweet Soph is utterly sweet, too caring, possible naive, and quite honestly kind of stupid. Her trust meter is baffling to me. Sophie on a ride with Caleb, but no he really isn’t Caleb, this is Dalton, Weston’s Brother – the same family cloth of the man that malicious abused Sophie, the brother of the same man that Mason accidentally killed. Dalton has kidnapped Sophie to seek revenge. And yeah, again I know what you are thinking I should enjoy this, it is beyond creative, should be edge of me seat torture but all the while this insane, suspenseful event was going on I was absolutely chuckling. Why? Because of how everything played out, not just with Sophie but how everyone acted in the circle. Everything was laughable scenario for me, I disconnected really quickly.
So no, I cannot, could not connect with Sophie in the least, especially up to this point. It wasn’t until everything started to slow down with the incident that Sophie acted more humanly believable. The depth of her pain, the emotional and mental damages that she went through and how she disconnected, that was more sympathetically relatable and I loved this point of Sophie. This in turn, surprisingly, the wall that Mason put against Sophie throughout book one is a one eighty when Sophie deals with her internal struggles because of how she treats Mason this round. She wants Mason to be hers but she needs space, understandably so, don’t get me wrong, but she acts so disconnected at times then too free and carefree, she is all over the place and at many points she puts Mason in this box where she controls and he willingly allows it – which I get I suppose.
On top of the swirling conflict I feel towards Sophie’s personality, we have the delicious alpha Mason. Oh Mason, what shall we do with you? From start to finish I couldn’t not grasp his malfunction. When he wasn’t beating on his chest like the gorilla in heat marking his territory, he is overly alpha caveman with a hint of snide, dare I say toxic aura. I think everything about his mannerism simply irked me to my core, normally I love the emotionally crippled alpha man meat, but Mason really set the bar down on this one, he flipping dropped it.
…Just too much. Too much of everything, my head is literally spinning from liking to loathing the dynamics. I still cannot understand the full intention with the side drama of daddy dearest and Serena. Some plots are better left on the side burner.
I can admit though, I liked how things did turn around for the couple. When they finally breached that point of not keeping one another at arms length and gave into their emotional and physical passions. Mason and Sophie really had a hot chemistry, their sexual connection was definitely drool worthy. Like I said, the sex scenes are always the funniest when discussing Kennedy Fox books, they are entertaining, total swoonage and my hot wet dream.
So what else did I like? Amongst the subtle comments of praise I have for the main characters here and there? I loved Maddie. She has honestly been my favorite human in this entire series thus so far and still holds that prize. She is fun, hilariously cheeky and downright adorable. Liam too, though I think his job might be a little far fetched, I am really curious about the Maddie + Liam romance. Fingers crossed the next duet blows me away!
Overall, Truly Yours, or rather Sophie and Mason’s duet just did not live up to my expectations for me in the least bit, maybe I just had too high of hopes. Either way, there was a good bit I enjoyed, but there was just too much I did not enjoy at all. I think everything surrounding the personalities and then how things played out just seemed rather lack luster for me. I truly had high hopes for this duet and unfortunately it was all around not my cup.

Read Truly Mine Here to Catch Up!
The night we met in the dimly lit bar, she looked like a brunette bombshell, and I wanted to learn her deepest secrets. With sun-kissed skin and soulful bedroom eyes, she was pure temptation, and I was mesmerized. As one drink led to two, I craved more of her playful banter and taunting lips. Resisting her wasn’t an option, and we quickly became a
desperate mess of tangled limbs and hot kisses. She tasted like the sweetest sin, but I was no saint.
Once we caught our breaths, and it became obvious that meeting her wasn’t a coincidence, everything changed. Now I must deny her at all costs. Friends. It’s all we can ever be.
After years of lying to myself and keeping her at a distance, I want to pull her close. Sophie’s on my mind more than ever as my instincts to protect her take over. Regardless of my attempts to help, she pushes me away and makes it clear she doesn’t need me.
I’ll do whatever it takes to keep her safe, to show her I’m the good guy, but one night takes a tragic turn for the worse when her boyfriend and I start throwing punches.
And ends when I’m arrested for his murder.
