Release Blitz + Review: The Secret to Dating You Best Friend’s Sister by Meghan Quinn

How do you date your best friend’s sister? Easy.

Step one: Pretend you want her to set you up with someone else. That will bring the two of you closer.

Step two: Go on date with lots of random women, proceed to get stupid drunk and talk about your best friend’s sister, thus gaining the courage to finally make a move.

Step three: Randomly show up at her apartment and confess your love. Women love that, right?

It all seemed so simple. A fool-proof three step process that will guarantee the love of you life to fall madly in love with you.

At least–that’s what I thought was going to happen. But my attempts to win over Julia Westin backfired in more ways than I can count. The thing about Julia? She’s smart–really smart–and her wicked gaze cuts through all the charm I’ve tried slinging her way. She’s not interested in games, my gifts, or my stories. She might want me too; but she’s not giving in that easy…

Okay, so do you doubt my admiration for Meghan Quinn? My obsession grows considerably with each read of hers I happen to pick up. Her duets are magically delicious and her co-writing work sends my swoonage into a tizzy, so when i see my absolute favorite trope by one of my personal favorite authors, it is a no brainier at this point. So yeah, what gets my goats? Obviously ‘People crushing on Best Friends Siblings’ that’s what! I don’t understand my fascination with them, but I will always, and I do mean ALWAYS, insta-buy these tropes.

So enough about the pointless rambling because we all know why we are here, the actual review, right? First off, I loved the characters. I mean I literally wish I could make Bram and Julia my besties, especially Julia.

Julia was interesting. There, that is the BEST way to describe her. Her personality screams ‘Resting Bitch Face’ and I flipping loved it. I liked how she was as a female lead too, she wasn’t just all swoonage and giggly, she was a beast my comrades. There was a bit of an awkwardness with Julia that I loved, towards the end it baffled me with how strange she actually was, at times found it annoying yet adorably naive. It will probably be the breaking point for many people to either really adore Julia or downright think she is positively insane, but again, I found the quirky obsession rather enduring.

As far as Bram, what can I actually say about Bram that won’t make me sound like I am imagining him naked? Yeah, he was delicious. He was definitely that overly confident, crude man. Something I always get weak knees for obviously, he just was such a fun male character. He was charming as he was playful, devilishly yummy. I think this is honestly what made the chemistry between Bram and Julia mesh. The teasing that went between Bram and Julia was beyond witty and entertaining. Bram was definitely a male who was use to being a sweet talker but Julia was not someone who was easily sweetened. And sweetened Julia he did, between the teasing banter there was some definite sexual tension. Once they crossed that line it was obvious they had a perfect match even between the sheets.

Another really fun factor that I loved about this, especially in concerns with the build of their romance was that we got tidbits of their past together. To some degree Bram admits he was not aware how attracted he was to Julia until one specific moment, and that happened to be some time between actually meeting her. Julie was the same, she admits Bram was always an attractive man but an asshole for sure, so who would want that? It was believable, it was fun; it simply aided in their banter in the present.

And I cannot get away from this review without mentioning probably my absolute favorite things – the secondary character twist – Julia’s Brother, Rath. The bromance is fierce in this one my furry friends and it will make you roll around chuckling like a madwoman! Seriously. I think the bromance was just as hilariously delicious as the actual romance. I cannot handle it, even that moment when Rath discovers the couple, oh my sweet lanta, hilarious. I was not expecting that…. Meghan Quinn you devil you.

Bottom line, if you haven’t picked up anything and all things Megan Quinn I would be lying if I told you, as a reader you are doing yourself an injustice. Whether you are a diehard five by five rater like me, or a ‘meh’ reader, Quinn always delivers in my opinion. Her characters are always such a well balance reliability of traits, their personalities are perfection and more importantly, the romance is downright entertaining as it is panty-dropping. Bram and Julia will definitely go down as one of my personal favorites, they were just amazing. I was either laughing, cringing with anger or gushing at the romance.

Here’s hoping Meghan Quinn gives me more juicy yummies – because I need them.
