Truth: Penn Walker entered my life like a summer storm—dark, ominous, and filled with thunder.

After witnessing my husband’s murder, I didn’t have much of a heart left to offer a man.

But Penn took it all. Every jagged shard. Every broken bit. Even the dirty and twisted pieces that I wish never existed.

Lie: I didn’t need him to save me.

Lie: I knew exactly who he was.

Lie: Losing him wouldn’t destroy me.

But that’s the thing about lies—you never know who to believe.

Well jeez and crackers my furry friends, that was probably one of the most intense, absolutely captivating reads I have read in a while – finally getting my greedy hands on the conclusion of this amazing duet gave me the happy tingles all over. Seriously I needed to see things pan out for our duo.

So I am not going to lie – I was really conflicted with starting The Truth About Us. I wasn’t prepared. The web of deceit, lies and how all the angles of each character’s intertwined with the pasts just sent me in a panic. Did I think things would come to a happy ever after? And lets face it, even if Cora and Penn got the ending I felt they deserved, shit was about to get messy, there was no way around it.

I still very much stand by my previous statements. Cora stole my heart. She is definitely still one of the most powerful fictional female characters I have come across; even in her weaker moments she still stands strong. Though you can definitely feel the need to lean on Penn, she isn’t any less of indestructible. She is just a beautiful human. And speaking of Penn, he is still the same man that tugged at my soul from The Truth About Lies. He just exudes confidence, strong and fierce personality. He has been through so much that it just blows my mind to see how much he still stands straight, taking on the world.

Seriously their love story gave me a hangover – Cora and Penn’s personalities together was alluring, aggressively heartwarming. I cannot get over how their worlds and emotions revolve around one another. They don’t need each other as a dependent, yet they absolutely, undoubtedly have to feel the need for one another.

Admittedly, this was one conclusion that painfully developed, each twist and turn escalated my anxiety for Cora and Penn. The drama that surrounded everything just made my heart pound and my mind in a tizzy. But fear not, the burn is amazing, Martinez just blew my mind with this! Totally worth the emotional escalations.

Bottom line, I am hooked. This was such a phenomenal read. The Truth About Us was the perfect ending for such an catastrophically delicious and emotional dynamic. Cora and Penn have my heart, they tugged at every string, They had such a powerful connection that I cannot help but gush for this romance. Martinez is masterful – I want her on my TBR at all times.

I cannot recommend The Truth Duet was the perfect blend of raw emotional feels, the angst perfect levels and the drama absolutely mind blowing. I loved it! Cannot wait to see what is next from Aly Martinez.

Originally from Savannah, Georgia, USA Today bestselling author Aly Martinez now lives in South Carolina with her four young children.

Never one to take herself too seriously, she enjoys cheap wine, mystery leggings, and baked feta. It should be known, however, that she hates pizza and ice cream, almost as much as writing her bio in the third person.

She passes what little free time she has reading anything and everything she can get her hands on, preferably with a super-sized tumbler of wine by her side.
