Review: The Upside of Falling | Blue Line Duet by Meghan Quinn

Well tickle my pickle I am hooked. Yep. Hooked like a fish in the sea looking for another bite of the good stuff. It is like The Notebook meets Top Gun in all the right kinds of ways. 

Seriously, this is my first Meghan Quinn novel I have read and nuggets comrades, this one sent me for a whirlwind. The writing style was beautifully written, I am completely smitten. The characters that Quinn portrayed were a blend of depth, all around believable dynamics that made me connect and ultimately fall head over heels in love with the characters. 

Colby was captivating. If I had a dick, it would be hard – total book boner. He was such a challenge which made him that much more inciting to say the least. Colby definitely had a past that drove him to his guarded personality in the present; one that made him a stiff puzzle that needed to be cracked. Not only this but he had this air about himself that was adamant; he was driven, passionate – fixated on his end game role in the Air Force. Although he definitely had a hard exterior personality, as Rory started to devolve his shell, he started to become rather charismatic, appealing personality that really lite up the scene when he was present. And those flash backs…. it took everything I had to just not cry my eyes out. I am crushed.

Then we have the beautiful Rory. Not only is she caring, kindhearted, warm friendly type dynamic, she is just that person you want in your corner. I couldn’t help but connect with her character on such a sympathetic level. I cannot get over how she was with her family, her friends and her pursuit of Colby. She was persistent to say it simple. Her ability to commit, taking a challenge head on, being optimistic regardless of the situation was enduring. 

And that chemistry! Oh my lanta that chemistry…. when I say the raw emotions of their chemistry lite the pages on fire, I truly mean it blew me away. The chemistry between Colby and Rory was intense to say the least. Between the push and pull on the resistance coming from Colby, wanting to avoid any type of attachments down to the moments that Rory really initiates everything, really purses Colby – just goryhell intense. 

And that cliffhanger! The flipping cliffhanger that still has goosebumps running down my arms, the chills down my spine and the complete anger that is radiating off of me – I am gutted. The wrecking ball that twisted this plot to HOLY MOLY…. why? 

Bottom line – The Upside of Falling slayed me in every emotional tug possible. This was absolutely phenomenal. The characters were beyond multilayered, their personalities and dynamics left such a unique, breathless romance that still has my heart pounding fiercely. Meghan Quinn has such a stunning writing style I am still reeling with how much I was captivated by this book – I honestly cannot wait to get my hands on The Downside of Love. I need it now comrades… NOW I TELL YOU!
