Review: Try | Temptation Series by Ella Frank

TRYTry – verb: to make an attempt or effort to do something or in this case…someone.

Sex. Logan Mitchell loves it, and ever since he realized his raw sexual appeal at a young age, he has had no problem using it to his advantage. Men and women alike fall into his bed—after all, Logan is not one to discriminate. He lives by one motto—if something interests you, why not just take a chance and try?

And he wants to try Tate Morrison.

Just coming out of a four-year marriage with an ex-wife from hell, a relationship is the last thing on Tate’s mind. He’s starting fresh and trying to get back on his feet with a new job at an upscale bar in downtown Chicago.

The only problem is, Tate has caught the unwavering and unwelcome attention of Mr. Logan Mitchell – a regular at the bar and a man who always gets what he wants.

Night after night Tate fends off the persistent advances of the undeniably charismatic man, but after an explosive moment in the bar, all bets are off as he finds his body stirring with a different desire than his mind.

As arrogance, stubbornness and sexual tension sizzles between the two, it threatens to change the very course of their lives.

Logan doesn’t do relationships. Tate doesn’t do men. But what would happen if they both just gave in and…tried?

Oh be still my speckled heart, what did I just stumble upon? Oh I will tell you my comrades – one hell of a read. I am hooked. I am pretty confident this murdered my ovaries it slayed me so hard. This was definitely an MM Romance that I cannot help but gush over. It was entertainingly hilarious with the most fiery steam scenes that even makes a grown woman blush. The writing style, the plot development, the climatic drama and the character dynamics was extraordinary.

So this plot – Ella Frank took the overly hyped backbone of Bi-Sexual male, who is definitely self-assured of his sex appeal and uses it to his advantage that then finds himself with a challenge of a very much ‘straight’ male. She isn’t re-inviting the wheel here guys, but what I can say is that she took this plot and smashed it. Whether you can admit the overplayed drama plot mix, you can appreciate that she has created this humorous, realistic romance that cannot be matched.

Logan is confident, cocky, self-assured, boxer dropping sexy attitude… see what I did there – I crack myself up. He radiates sex. And that mouth. Oh my lanta it was enough to make me want to jump his bones. No filters jerk off who thinks he knows anything and everything, he is up for the challenge of ravishing Tate, regardless of the current situation. Tate – the new bartender, newly divorced to a woman and all around ‘straight’ male. Whew. Speaking of Tate, Logan met his match. Tate is not entirely confident as he tends to portray, but he still emanate a certain level of class and subtle confidence that is empowering. Not only this but he at times appears to be shy, counter-conscience to his personality yet doesn’t back down from a fight. And more specifically I mean his attitude. Where Logan is overly confident and arrogant, Tate is hot headed, impetuous and quick to let his emotions run away with him. Maybe this is because the effects of his currently divorced attachment, which I’d like to dive in more to in future books, but he is guarded by his attitude.

This I think really attributes to the chemistry and dynamics between Tate and Logan. At first Tate cannot stand Logan’s mouth, his attitude and more importantly his overly confident exterior. During their first meeting Tate was not entirely sure Logan was flirting, Tate even admits he continued to do so as this was the bar life. He also mentions on more than many occasions that Logan being who he is, not the gay factor, but his ability to ‘fuck anything with a hole’ oddly disgusting. As this develops we discover as they start exploring their relationship this is more through jealousy. Tate ultimately finds Logan’s confident and sex appeal empowering, more importantly a turn on. It is as much as toxic as it is devouring chemistry.

Obviously because Tate is not gay, he is constantly battling with his internal feelings towards his situation with Logan. The tension that was built throughout their blossoming relationship was intoxicating. I just cannot get over the emotional whirlwind of Tate, he was absolutely stunning character, making his struggles with his true desires powerful and intense to read. I will also admit that Logan was probably my favorite character – don’t get me wrong, Tate is stunning but it was Logan who stole the show for me and my heart. His entire personality really just struck a nerve for me. At first he only looked at Tate as a conquest, rightly so – everyone wants a good challenge, but as the progression of their dynamics shifted, Logan really starts becoming something more. Not only is he patient with Tate, discovering the wants and desires to appease Tate, but Logan is also discovering he wants so much more from this man. Plus the humor – Logan’s mouth was perfection.

The emotions are just pure, raw lust – the enticing dynamics of this romance is deliciously intense. The chemistry between Tate and Logan was enough to get my blood pumping in the lower region, my book boner is strong with this one. Once they really became physical it was this all consuming, captivating moments – they really only existed for the other.

Something else I will also mention, the drama. We knew it was coming. I liked the uniqueness of the drama factor in TRY. Because Tate was conflicted internal, he also had the jealousy of a man scorned. This matched Logan one hundred and ten percent. They were constantly bickering, battling their fears that lashed out into a all our scream war or the other slammed against a wall in a tonsil war. They feasted one another. It was not the typical one sides struggle but they BOTH had fears, and wasn’t your stereotypical conflicts, it was realistic. The way Tate and Logan handled them too was beyond gut wrenching until my heart swooned. It was perfection.

Not only am I utterly obsessed with the Temptation series, but I am head over heels with all things Ella Frank. Commence stalker habits here. My book ban be damned comrades, I am buying the physical copies of this series and I won’t stop until I read everything about Tate and Logan to curb my growing dirty thoughts.

I don’t know what else to say honestly. The backbone of the plot is nothing new yet Frank has such a stunningly beautiful and unique style she added to the mix to really make this story pop in all possible angles. The fierce, raw emotions that are between the main characters is nothing short of breathtaking. All exaggerating aside from my apparent beaver drool appreciation I have to admit I am falling down this rabbit hole and I have no plans of crawling out. The sexy steam filled erotica left me hot and heavy, with these sweet moments swooning or tear jerked; just all kinds of perfection and I cannot get enough.
