Gush me more please and thank you – seriously hot men with arm tattoos on the covers are my weakness. I can’t help it… can you blame me?

The cover and the chemistry was the best parts in my opinion. I hate this too because I LOVED the idea of the plot, it really did strike me as such a fun plot that would be phenomenal read. Unfortunately I had so many conflicted issues with the characters that basically I couldn’t connect.

Firstly let me start by saying that I liked yet disliked Kaden. At the jump I was a little confused as to why he ended his engagement with Sadie, then coming into the next couple chapters, it becomes evident that there is just so much drama inside his head of demons plus with his family and ex-wife. It was so much overwhelming emotions, I couldn’t keep up. But then after the accident happens he makes me flipping swoon for him. Being tentative, romantically compassionate, plus the flashbacks were delicious. But at the same time I had something on my shoulder saying: Why? Why should it take an accident to make you realize how stupid you were?

Sadie on the other hand was interesting as well. I liked her, I did, but I couldn’t get a grip on her personality. She was probably the one character I couldn’t connect with the most overall. In some aspects I thought she was an interestingly empowering woman, especially during Kaden’s flashback mode, yet in other points of their romance blossoming she more or less seemed to conform into the romance. She allowed herself to become a victim almost…. she lost her voice.

I will say however though I did like their romance for the most part, regardless of not being able to connect entirely with their personalities. They obviously had some kind of physical and emotionally consuming feelings towards one another, yet it seemed that no matter their passion for one another, or the respect, Kaden was overly emotionally detached; or maybe it was Sadie. I will say though that I loved their empotional connection towards one another, though I did not connect with them, I liked they had this respect and mutual understanding about family and life together.

Something else that really stuck out to me in a love/hate situation – the supporting cast. I loved Hannah, but I hated Tess. I also could not wrap my mind around Alicia. I just couldn’t… still can’t – she needed a punch to her knee caps. Finally figuring out all the truths, which I had already somewhat assumed would be what happened, was slightly exhausting.

Overall, I did enjoy My One Regret for the most part. I liked the chemistry between the present and past Kaden and Sadie, but at the same time their relationship wasn’t believable. I couldn’t connect. Plus the drama was overwhelming at times. Those pet peeves aside, it was a fun synopsis. The romance was adorably sweet, and I loved the ending.

I definitely think this was just not my cup of tea, though I did like Burgoa’s writing style, it is unique, taking a bit of time to really get use to it. But I definitely want to check out more from this author.
