Dark Romance | Suspense | Adult Fiction

I received an Advanced Readers Copy for an honest review. Thank you InkSlinger PR & JL Drake for providing the ARC.

Dying. I am dead. Just dead.

Seriously what the heck just happened? I am still reeling from the cluster fuck of everything I just read and I think I need a minute to collect my thoughts…. yeah I am good, for now… Cheese and crackers my comrades, this shit was a whirlwind of twists I was not expecting in the least, from the slap in the face drama down to the swoon worthy awe moments I was not expecting. Jeez.

Demons quickly picks up right where Trigger left off. Still leading with Tess and Triggers POVs for the novels – have I mentioned how much I love these characters? Trigger I think really escalates as a character throughout Demons. His growth was absolutely stunning while his fall gut wrenching. Trigger really is just beyond dimensional as a character, he struggles with still being the president, in charge badass while figuring out that this rough exterior can still have the gushy swoon interior for Tess. I was extremely shocked, utterly speechless with his admission as well as his choices throughout Demons. He is just that rough alpha male who is easy to hate yet can’t help but love him.

Aside for my growing love for Trigger, I still have a huge book boner love for Tess. She is such a beautifully erroneous type character, she has so many flaws yet she is strong willed. She may have this damaging past, one that keeps kicking her down to the ground, but she picks herself up constantly to take on the world. I honestly think Tess is the hero of the series. I know what you are thinking, how so? But honestly, you have Trigger who would kill for her, yet she would die for him. She is strong and cunning, smart, beyond resourceful. I completely envy her character.

And what would this without discussing the chemistry? Well lather me up and call me Sally baby, because this will make anyone hot and heavy. I honestly cannot get enough of Tess and Trigger as a unit. They are an enigma to one another, they feed off of each other. They are this all consuming, bleed for you, soul embedding type of passion. They feud, they make up. Literally cannot keep their hands off of one another with the overwhelming desire to show who is dominant in the relationship. I think they are just beyond in love, whether they want to admit it is more than lust, they are in love – it is perfection.

Even with the chemistry of Tess and Trigger I cannot get over the entire drama surrounding them with the supporting cast. Haunting. Gripping. Just intriguing. The premise is just so intense it is hard to describe without spoiling honestly, and I have so much to say about it! From the bar to Tess’s mothers home, the unfolding horror of what Trigger’s father, Allen has in store for the family. The FUCKING MOLE! I am crushed…. I can’t handle this.

JL Drake has basically corrupted my soul with Devil’s Reach Series, I loved these books and honestly need book three now. The writing style is absolutely phenomenal, with each twist and turn of the plot I am left completely gutted. I have no words with how powerful every scene and how the character dynamics unfold with each page I read. I cannot recommend Demons more than I am right now, goryhell it was fucking amazing.

Just take all my money please Drake, just give me book three, I need it now.

Silence fell. The only things screaming were the demons inside my head. My anger rose rapidly.

“Jace!” I barked. “Clean this shit up.”

He and the newest prospect, Rich, started to push the human waste down the industrial drain with a shovel.

Blood dripped from the tips of my hair and ran down my face. I grabbed the razor we used to skin the heads and moved over to the mirror. I gathered the hair in the center of my head and lifted it up then buzzed the sides.

I left the mohawk long.

Better.

I flipped my hair out of my face and spun around to face my men. They seemed unsure what to think.

“Like the new look.” Rail said, trying to break the tension.

Gus nodded in agreement, but I caught him glance to where Morgan stood off to his side.

“Fuck, I would give my left nut to have Tess back,” Rail muttered to Brick.

Brick remained silent, which was good, as I was moments from flipping my fuck switch.

I grabbed a bottle of whiskey on my way out and stuck it in my saddlebag before I kicked my bike to start the engine. The air was cold and whipped through my hoodie as the smell of the rain to come made memories come thick and fast about the last time it poured.

Her lips shivered, but her eyes told me she had a lot more fight in her.

“You’re cold.

“I’m fine.” She pulled the joint from my lips.

I shook that thought from my head and turned down a side street. I cut the engine and found Mud outside his surf shop.

“Evening.” He grinned when he saw the bottle dangling from my fingers. “You want to keep going?”

I nodded and removed my hoodie and tossed it on

the table, but carefully laid my cut on the leather couch away from the mess.

He motioned for me to take the chair. I flopped back and looked up at the naked posters that littered the ceiling.

Mud lit a joint before he spoke. “This new?” He pointed at his head.

I nodded.

“You want a glass?”

I wiggled the cap off with one hand and drank the neck before I set it aside. Mud huffed with a grin, and smoke poured out of the corners of his mouth. He tapped his phone, and The Black Keys’ “Lonely Boy” played through shitty speakers. I eyed him, curious if it was meant for me, but he just clicked the machine on and went to work on my pec.

I focused all my energy on the needle that drilled tiny pinpricks into my flesh, but sadly, it didn’t last long. The pain subsided, and I was left with my demons gnawing on my memories.

Nolan was nowhere to be found.
