To the north of the Varis empire, a mysterious faction spreads propaganda against the vampire monarchy. Friedrich Volya, the Duke of Winter Hill, seeks to discover who they are before his uncle finds them first. King Dominik will punish the traitors with brutal force.
Local schoolteacher, the raven-haired Brennalyn, is on her own mission—to spy on the duke and discover what she can for the Black Lily. She longs to help the commonwealth and bring justice to the many orphans left behind from the ravages of the blood madness, like the children she lovingly keeps in her care. What she doesn’t plan for is the heart-pounding attraction she feels for the duke, enemy to the Black Lily.
But when Brennalyn’s secret puts her life and the life of her children in danger, Friedrich steps in as her protector, she finds out there’s more to the duke than she thought.

I received for an honest review. Thank you Book End Tours & Juliette Cross for providing copy of The White Lily .
I have always loved paranormal vampire romances, whether they are cute swoonage or the deviously erotica goodie, I am game to read it. Though I admit, I do tend to shy away from the young adult cute ones mostly because they are too tame for my tastes, but I am all in it when it comes to the sexy vampire romance genre – especially when there is some steamy scenes to drool over. Ergo The White Lily. I was beyond excited to participate in this book tour, especially considering I have never read anything from Juliette Cross, I love finding new authors to add to my stalking pile.
First things first, I loved it. I fucking LOVED this book. From the writing style that gripped me on the first page to the total character swoon that made me melt from my chair with each sultry encounter. So bottom line, I highly recommend picking this series up! So if you need more convincing…
During the read I definitely made some quick assessments. The obvious is that this is a cross of Snow White meets Vampires. More importantly, something that I felt had a big influence on the world building was kind of like a Game of Thrones backbone. Everything just has this surrounding atmosphere of Vampire Monarchy meets fairy tale with a dash of GoT timeframe feels. That is honestly the BEST way I can describe this. It was amazing. This may have not been her intention with GoT, but this is definitely how I felt everything was divided by areas as well as the drama.
Hands down the world building was beautifully imaginative. It was absolutely stunning.
Aside from the world building that still has me by the throat was the characters. Brenna is definitely the Snow White with a blend of something from a Jane Austin novel type female lead. I really liked her character. Brennalyn is definitely a force to be captivated with; she is fierce, independent female who is completely a take charge find her own answers kind of gal yet with a hint of damsel in distress moments. Someone I really think was just a fun character to see evolve with her storyline. And not to mention her involvement with Friedrich. Oh the deliciously charming, knee weakening Duke of Winterhill. Oh swoon me some more please. I loved Friedrich. I found his entire demeanor to be enticing.
Combining these personalities screamed sensual type of magnetic attraction that both Friedrich and Brenna start to realize for one another. It is definitely a fast paced connection with a slow build type romance. It was just the connection was fierce, all consuming powerful. I loved their chemistry. By the end I was literally melting off the couch – MELTING I TELL YOU! The steam was strong.
In the end, I cannot say this enough so I will say it again: I fucking loved The White Lily. I could not recommend this book enough. If you like retellings with vampire twist of genius, this is definitely right up your alley, add it to your TBR, do it now. I thoroughly enjoyed this read. I was captivated from the start. I cannot wait to snag the rest of this series because I am obsessed with Juliette Cross’s writing style at this point. I need more of her!
